Prof. Matthias Thommes, Head of Institute of Separation Science and Technology (Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg) has been distinguished for his outstanding contributions to the fundamentals of adsorption and the characterization of porous materials by the Separation Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). The Plaque of Honor was awarded to him during a dedicated Honorary Session at the AIChE Annual Meeting 2024 on October 28th in San Diego, California, USA.
AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineering), Area 2e Adsorption & Ion Exchange, has announced that Prof. Thommes will be awarded at the 2024 Annual Meeting an Honoree Session for his significant contributions to adsorption science, porous materials characterization, international standards, and chemical engineering.
Nadine Bingöl, Manuel Bleiziffer, Ece Karadag, Melike Özgül and Emelie Wöllner received the third prize for their "Cadib-Pro-B" concept in which 1,3-butadiene is produced by electrolysis and the Lebedev method using CO2 captured from the exhaust of cement plants, purified water and clean energy. Congratulations to all team members on this remarkable accomplishment!
Prof. Dr. Thommes (Institute of Separation Science and Technology) is listed once again among the TOP 50 of the worldwide most cited researchers. This is a result of the new Stanford List, which is based on the evaluation of Scopus by researchers of the Stanford University.
“Türen auf mit der Maus” was the motto in the science center Erlangen for photonics and optical technologies (panOPTICUM) on October 3rd, 2024. Young and elderly learned about persistence of color. Prof. Nicolas Vogel and Dr. Max Gmelch took young and old “Maus fans” on a journey into the dazzling world of colors. The participants enjoyed ...
