At the Department CBI we conduct groundbreaking research on the topic of sustainability and sustainable processes in all areas of industry.
We specialise and have developed solutions in the fields process engineering (process optimization, circular economy, energy efficiency in industrial processes) and energy transition (energy storage, efficient use and conversion of renewable energy).

Research institutes and collaborations
-
Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg
The Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energy (HI ERN) researches and develops basic principles, materials and technologies for climate-neutral and sustainable energy supply at acceptable costs. FAU, Forschungszentrum Jülich and Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin combine their expertise in the fields of material, energy and process research. www.hi-ern.de
-
Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT
The Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT does research with the goal of achieving a clean environment by focussing on the areas of climate-neutral energy systems, resource-efficient processes and circular products. The institute develops innovative, industrially implementable technologies, products and services for the circular economy and brings them to application.
