The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBI) is one of six departments at the Faculty of Engineering of FAU. The twelve chairs of the Department CBI introduce students to classical chemical and process engineering as well as to life science engineering. These disciplines touch nearly every aspect of day-to-day life, from nutrition to medicine to energy . The Department CBI is thus well-poised to tackle pressing current social challenges ranging from health, environment, sustainability to energy safety.
With its wide network of partners in industry and academia, both on national and international level, exciting opportunities are available to our students.
The Department CBI possesses close ties with nationally and internationally renown research institutes (f.ex. HI ERN, Fraunhofer UMSICHT, Energie Campus Nürnberg, among others) as well as with industry partners and partner universities abroad.
Our students receive hands-on education including laboratory experience incorporating the latest findings in research in a stimulating and inspiring environment. As engineers of their respective field of study they are enabled to find solutions to real-world problems – from everyday life products to technology that does not exist yet to help curb climate change.
